Once you develop a bad habit, you’re stuck for life.
Or so you might think. In truth, a bad habitcan be broken. A bad habit can be overcome. A bad habit can be replaced with a new habit; a new habit that leads to greater success.
The key is to recognize that your habits and your ways of acting are fluid. Meaning, they can change. If you don’t like something, change it, whatever it is. Once you act a certain way, you’re not forever after destined to repeat that behavior, especially if it was ineffective.
If you swing a certain way and you’re not having the success you desire, change! It is brutal, difficult work to bust through an old pattern – but it is necessary in order to grow beyond your current level. The limiting habit may be conscious or unconscious, or a combination of both.
First, identify the behavior or thought that is holding you back. Second, become aware of your actions and your thoughts. Third, insert a new behavior or a new thought in its place. It’s a simple process albeit very difficult. So difficult, in fact, that most batters don’t even try to change an old, ineffective habit. They’re too timid to try. Don’t be too rigid to change. Stay fluid, change when and what you must, and become great!
