The immortal Ted Williams, a hitter so accomplished that his nickname was "The Greatest Hitter Who Ever Lived," said that hitting a baseball was the most difficult feat in sports.

Challenge yourself and compound that difficulty factor by at least 600%: hit a much, much smaller target than a baseball or a softball.

For instance, select a minute and microscopic Navy Bean, as small as the tiniest pebble. Then, hit it at least 12 consecutive times. Prove your prowess and make it on the Precision Hitting Wall of Fame.

Here's the scale of greatness, Precision Hitting Level One:

12 consecutive hits = Single A Minor League status
18 consecutive hits = Double AA Minor League status
24 consecutive hits = Triple AAA Minor League status
30 consecutive hits = Major League utility player level
36 consecutive hits = Major League full-time starter status
42 consecutive hits = Major League All-Star status
48 consecutive hits = Hall of Fame distinction
54 consecutive hits = Legendary status

The Line Drive Power Hitting Wall of Fame Level One has its first inductee!

Update: And, another great young hitter pounded the ball well enough to join the list.

This test entails hitting 3 out of 10 baseballs off a tee a distance of 55 feet into an approximate 20 square foot area (4' x 5'). Many have tried and only one {note: a second player has since joined the exclusive club} has conquered this challenge. Someone, anyone, get this young man on your team. (Sad news: this great young hitter now applies his expertise to the great sport of hockey. Baseball, despair that you lost a hitter of this magnitude).

Level One
Barrett, Logan                Unaffiliated/13                                     3
Beekman, Joe                Westerville North/Junior                   3

Stay tuned for announcements regarding the Power Hitting Wall of Fame challenges, coming soon.

Also forthcoming: a Fielding Wall of Fame skills challenge. Start practicing, now!
