A handy implement for an aspiring hitter is a thin-diameter bat constructed of metal. A commercial box store such as The Home Depot or Lowes, or a traditional mom-and-pop neighborhood hardware store, has a ready supply of hard-rolled metal piping and tubing. Cut to appropriate size, add some athletic or duct tape as a make-shift handle and you have a durable and useful bat ideal for hitting every target from a baseball to a heavy ball to an undersized ball. Such a bat is almost indestructible and withstands weather and extraordinary wear-and-tear.
Note: depending on the thickness of the metal a bat like this can become quite heavy. Opt for smaller-gauge plus a shorter length in order to reduce the weight. Lighter is better, most times. Either way, this bat will last a long time. Use it and become great!
